We've found that writers tend to be very passionate about their methods. Plotters and Pantsers alike have very strong feelings about how they bring a story idea to fruition.

I do a lot of pants flying, but have been known to plot.

I was a pantser until I hit a wall and realized I didn't know how to make my beginning meet my end. Now I loosely plot-- and hate every second of it!

i loosely plot (we're talkin' Real Loose) and pants the rest of it. yeah, sometimes i end up lost w/o a clue, but i've been able to fix most of those, and bend things back in the general direction they're s'posed to go. attended a panel at ConDFW one year, 5 pantsers and a plotter. the plotter was indignantly mystified how pantsers could write at all! She was the Puppet Master! She'd Never Allow A Character To Dictate Story! the pantsers just grinned. and i decided to never read anything the plotter wrote, as i can't imagine them having life.

Whatcha Writin?: short stories of dubious quality

My type-A brain kills a good idea deader than a beloved character in a Joss Whedon series! The only way I can finish a story is to write it so fast that my brain doesn't have time to interfere with what the characters are doing.

I just write. When I start thinking too much my writing flow crumbles. Then I have to take a step back and allow the story to be.

I find both have their advantages.
